Australia has been given the green light to stage the opening round of the 2019 Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), with the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit to host the event from February 22-24.
Tickets will go on sale in mid-October 2018, with updates available at www.worldsbk.com.au.
This year’s revamped Paddock Show returns in 2019, as does the unique post-race parc ferme in the middle of the paddock.
Paddock entry is free for all three-day pass holders.
Riders confirmed for 2019 include with three-time world champion Jonathan Rea, who is continuing with Kawasaki alongside new teammate Leon Haslam.
Yamaha’s factory team is back with Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark, while Ducati has signed former 125 GP world champion and current MotoGP rider Alvaro Bautista to partner Chaz Davies on the all-new Panigale V4.
Tom Sykes, Leon Camier, Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty are also expected to be on the grid in 2019 in what will be the 32nd year of WorldSBK competition.
Kids 15 and under gain free entry if accompanied by a full-paying adult, and the offer extends to free camping for youngsters (15 and under) in the circuit campground.
