Australia's squad for this year's International Six Days' Enduro (ISDE) in Portugal from October 12-17 has been announced, with American-based star Josh Strang the only real notable absentee.
The squad is as follows:
Junior World Trophy
Jarrod Bewley, NSW
Toby Price, NSW
Josh Green, NSW
Andrew Lloyd, NSW
Geoff Braico, NSW
One rider to be omitted.
Women's
Alison Parker, Qld
Jemma Wilson, Qld
Jacquie Jones, NSW
Lana Stiller (non-travelling reserve), Qld
In the Senior World Trophy (SWT), the only change from the team which finished sixth in 2008 is the addition of the American-based Watts to replace Ben Kearney.
In the junior team, Price and Green are the new faces.
Bewley and Price recently finished a superb one-two in the Australian Four Day Enduro, with Hollis third. With Price and Bewley both at the top of their game, Australia is a strong chance to win its second Junior World Trophy. Its one and only success came in 1995, with Watts riding alongside Shawn Reed and the Cunningham brothers -- Jamie and the late Ian.
"It was a big shock to make the team," said Price. "It will be a really good experience for me, and I'm sure I'm going to learn a lot and hopefully make a name for myself overseas. The ISDE is such a great event and I'm really happy I can be a part of it."
All the riders will now attend a training camp at Abernathy (NSW) from May 18-20.
Meanwhile, the USA has announced its SWT team for 2009 - and it's the same as last year. The riders will be Destry Abbott, Kurt Caselli, Ricky Dietrich, Jimmy Jarrett, Nathan Kanney and Nathan Woods.
