Australia names 2009 Trial des Nations teams
Campbell and Middleton the ‘survivors'Reigning national champion Colin Zarczynski and Kyle Middleton have retained their places in the Australian team for this year’s Trial des Nations, to be held in Italy on September 19-20.
The duo will be joined by Trevor Campbell and Dylan Rees in the four-man team, which was an excellent third in the ‘international’ (second) division in 2008 behind the Czech Republic and Norway. That was Australia’s fourth podium finish in succession.
The men’s reserve is Tim Coleman, and representing the women’s team will be Michelle Coleman, Brooke Lonie and Kristie McKinnon. The reserve is Ina Halls. The women were sixth in 2008.
The TdN first began in 1984, with Spain the dominant country in division one. The all-conquering Spaniards have won 14 of the last 18 events, with only Great Britain and France getting a look in.
