Team Australia has completed the 2022 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in France with stirring third place finishes in the Junior World Trophy and Women’s World Trophy.
However, the Senior Trophy team was gutted by injury – a dislocated shoulder for Todd Waters (Husqvarna) and fractured finger for Josh Green (Yamaha) – which saw them finish well down the order in a division won by Great Britain for the first time since 1953. Great Britain also won the Women’s World Trophy.
The gruelling event was held in Le Puy-En-Velay from August 29 until September 3, and in the Junior World Trophy reigning national enduro champion and the current leader in the Australian Off-Road Championship, Kyron Bacon, led the way on his Yamaha WR250F.

Bacon was the fastest Aussie on all six days, and with rock-solid support from Korey McMahon (GasGas) and Blake Hollis (Yamaha) the team finished just six minutes behind the winner and defending champion, Italy. Finland was second.
Jess Gardiner (Yamaha) again rose to the occasion in the Women’s World Trophy, and was joined by Emelie Karlsson (KTM) and Ebony Nielsen (GasGas) in third place. France was second to provide some joy for the host nation.

Meanwhile, Australia was 21st in the Senior World Trophy with Daniel Milner (Fantic) and Andrew Wilksch (Husqvarna) pushing hard to the end – a cross test on day six – after Waters and Green retired on days four and five respectively.
Great Britain was followed home by Italy, Spain, France and America in the Senior World Trophy. Italy only pinched second place off Spain in the frantic last moments of the cross test, with the final gap between the two teams a wafer-thin 0.5 seconds after almost 13 hours of racing.

In the individual standings, Milner was 12th outright and fourth in E1, while Bacon hasn’t done his aspirations to compete in the EnduroGP world title in 2023 any harm by finishing 26th outright (ninth E1).
McMahon (17th E2) and Wilksch (seventh E3) also showed their class in the iconic teams’ event.

At the pointy end, Enduro GP stars Italian Andrea Verona (GasGas) and Spaniard Josep Garcia (KTM) were the two standouts, with the latter eventually getting the job done with British rider Nathan Watson (Honda) third.
