Australia fourth in 2011 Trials des Nations

In hot conditions in northern Italy, Australia just missed out on a podium in the second tier International Trophy division, while Spain dominated the main game

The Australian men’s team has finished fourth in the International Trophy division of the 2011 Trials des Nations, held on September 17-18 in Tolmezzo, Italy.

The Aussie quartet of Neil Price, Kyle Middleton, Tim Coleman and Boyd Willcocks overcame a slow start to finish on 161pts, behind the winner Germany (111), Sweden (129) and the Czech Republic (135).

In the top tier world division, the powerful Spanish team of Toni Bou, Albert Cabestany, Jeroni Fajardo and Adam Raga was again too strong, with Great Britain and Italy producing the same podium as 2010.

Spain has now won 17 of the last 21 Trials des Nations, including the last eight.
