A cast of Australia's up-and-coming motocross talent put in a stellar performance at the Junior World Motocross Championship recently, with Team Australia coming home in fourth place overall.
Held in Sevlievo, Bulgaria, on August 26, the titles saw the world's best youngsters battle it out over a variety of classes. Australia's Caleb Grothues defeated all comers in the hard-fought 65cc field, the rising star from WA winning gold and collecting the 65cc Junior Motocross World Championship title after recording a perfect 1-1 result. Nipping at Grothues' heels was another Aussie, NSW's Riley Dukes collecting silver with two third places.
In other classes, Queenslanders Mitchell Evans and Hunter Lawrence finished ninth and 13th respectively in the 85cc class, while NSW's Egan Mastin and Victoria's Joel Milesevic finished 17th and 31st in the tough 125cc field.
The combined result secured Team Australia's commendable fourth-place result, behind the Netherlands, Italy and the USA.
