Australia awarded ISDE Senior Trophy!

That's the clean sweep of the major trophies at the 2015 International Six-Day Enduro after an appeal by three national federations against a decision made at the event was dismissed

Team Australia has been declared the winner of the Senior Trophy at the 2015 International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE), which was held in Slovakia in September — but has now just been settled after a hearing at the FIM International Disciplinary Court.

The court rejected appeals lodged by the Fédération Française de Motocyclisme
(FFM), the Real Federación de Motociclimo (RFME) and the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) against the decision of the international jury disqualifying eight riders who missed a route check at the 90th running of the prestigious event.

The riders were initially disqualified at the event but then reinstated by an FIM Tribunal pending an appeal. Three French riders were involved in the missing checkpoint imbroglio, which ultimately meant that court action was going to decide whether France successfully defended the Senior Trophy, or whether Australia scored the ultimate prize.

And that decision has now been made in favour of Australia, which means the teams from Down Under claimed an outstanding clean sweep at the 2015 ISDE in the Senior Trophy, Junior Trophy and Women's Trophy.

Australia (Joshua Green, Daniel Milner, Matthew Phillips, Beau Ralston, Lachlan Stanford and Glenn Kearney now wins the Senior Trophy over Italy, Finland, Germany and the Czech Republic.

“We are the best and have the fastest enduro riders in the world so I’m stoked the FIM made the right decision to stick to the rule book," said Milner. “Couldn’t have done it without all the helpers and those who have supported us along the way."

In the women's, it was a hat-track of wins for Australia with Jessica Gardiner, Tayla Jones and Jemma Wilson steamrolling the opposition. The trio finished a whopping 55 minutes ahead of France, with Sweden in third, and in the junior trophy Australia (Broc Grabham, Tom Mason, Daniel Sanders and Tye Simmonds) easily accounted for Sweden and Italy.

MA interim CEO Jeremy Kann said: “Waking up to the news that we have been rightly awarded the Trophy in the Senior class at the ISDE has been absolutely sensational. We knew we had a good claim to be the outright winners of the event, but had to wait for the process to unfold – and we were unable to protest or appeal the decisions ourselves.

“But we feel that this is the right result – and while our riders, crew and supporters were unable to bask in the achievement at the time, we certainly can now! This is not only an incredible achievement for the Senior Trophy Team – it caps off a remarkable event where we won everything, and the whole country should be extremely proud.”
