Australia has qualified for the 2011 Speedway World Cup Final after a scintillating win in the race-off in Poland on July 14.
Improving on their 47pt performance in the semi-final, the Aussies scored an impressive 51pts to comfortable claim victory, 7pts ahead of Sweden, with both nations booking their place in the July 16 final against Denmark and Poland.
Troy Batchelor was the hero, responding after a poor showing in Denmark to top score with 13pts, with team-mates Jason Crump (12) and Chris Holder (11) joining him in double figures.
With a score of just 4pts in the semi-final, Batchelor was fortunate to avoid the chop for the race-off, with Davey Watt coming in to the five-man squad for Rory Schlein.
However, the talented 23-year-old repaid the faith placed in him, claiming three heat wins as Australia claimed eight wins in 25 heats.
Darcy Ward went winless, but will have pleased with his consistency over the five heats, scoring four second place finishes. Veteran Davey Watt stepped and scored in each of his heats to add 6pts to the total.
It was a forgettable meeting for Great Britain and outsiders Russia, with both finishing well of the pace and the British having to settle with finishing last on 30pts, three short of the Russian total.
The final will be broadcast live on SPEED TV on July 17 at 3:00am (AEST). Check your local guides for more information.
