Aussie speedway opener cancelled

Yesterday we reported Kurri Kurri had taken over the round one hosting duties from Sydney, and now it's been canned altogether

Motorcycling Australia has announced the opening round of the 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Championship has been cancelled.

Originally scheduled to take place in Sydney on Wednesday, January 12, the event was relocated to Kurri Kurri earlier this week.

Upon reviewing the decision to relocate the event at short notice, MA and the event organisers have agreed it’s in the best interests of the championship to cancel the round.

The championship will now run over four rounds, starting in Kurri Kurri on Saturday, January 15.
