Aussie riders share 10K in international grants

Across a number of disciplines

January 13, 2009

Motorcycling Australia (MA) recently allocated grants to the following riders who will compete internationally in 2009:

Luke Gough -- AMA flat track
Gareth Jones -- Dutch Superbike
Jason O'Halloran -- British Superbike
Sam Rummery -- Oceania moto trials
Arthur Sissis -- Red Bull Rookies (road racing)
Matt Moss -- German supercross
Daniel McCoy -- AMA motocross/supercross

The seven riders will share $10,000 between them.

Sissis, 13, is a star in the making, having just switched to road racing on a serious level after a junior career mostly spent in speedway. He was the 2008 Australian under 16 speedway champion in the most emphatic fashion, and he won the final selection event for Red Bull Rookies at Estoril in Portugal on November 10 last year.

Applications for the second round of funding for international competition between July 1 and December 21 will open in March.
