Aussie MotoGP boss leaves post

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is now on the hunt for a new CEO after Drew Ward calls time after three and a half years

The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island is now on the lookout for a new CEO following the resignation of Drew Ward.

The motorcycle-riding Ward (pictured) resigned from the Melbourne-based Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) on Monday, effective immediately. He has only just returned to Melbourne after an extended holiday, where he ultimately made the decision to leave his post.

Ward was in the top job for three-and-a-half years, with the Australian F1 GP at Albert Park also falling under his directorship.

Ward's predecessor at the AGPC, Tim Bamford, was also in the job for three years.

Andrew Westacott is the interim CEO.

This year's Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be held from October 15-17.
