Round two of the 2017 MX Nationals took place in Appin (NSW) on April 23 saw CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris claim the overall for the second round in succession, extending his lead in the championship to 23pts over KTM's Kirk Gibbs.
Ferris scored 2-1 results at the technical Appin layout to bank 67pts, finishing ahead of Gibbs (60), Toff Waters (Suzuki, 60), Brett Metcalfe (Husqvarna, 57) and Kade Mosig (Yamaha, 56). Gibbs was the race one victor.
“Another round win and a good day for me and the team,” Ferris said. “We had two vastly different track conditions today, and they were much different from the opening round so it’s good to be able to perform on all surfaces and in all conditions.
“Moto two was tough in a lot of ways but I enjoyed the challenge of riding in ruts and the rain just added another aspect to it.
“We are off to a great start in the series but it’s just two of 10 rounds and we all have a long way to go. Thank you to the CDR Yamaha team for its continued support and belief and we can now prepare for the next round at Conondale which is one of my favourite tracks."

Ferris is now on 143pts, from Gibbs (120), Mosig (118), Waters (108) and Luke Styke (KTM, 107).
In MX2, Mitch Evans (Yamaha) took his first round win, but Wilson Todd (Yamaha) retains his lead in the championship.
Round three of the 2017 Motul MX Nationals will be held at Conondale (Qld) on Sunday, May 7.
