Aussie market up 4.1 percent

Still thanks to the collective grunt from the ATV and scooter sectors, which have continued to take on most of the heavy lifting in 2011

After eight months into 2011, the Australian motorcycle market – ATV, off-road, road and scooter – is up 4.1 precent on the same period in 2010.

Until the end of August, 66,907 units have been retailed compared to 64,246 the same time last year, with the ATV sector leading the way, up 26.9 percent, with the scooter (up 11.9) and road (up 0.8) segments also in the black. Off-road is down 5.9 percent.

Off-road and road still dominate the landscape, accounting for 67.9 percent of the total market, followed by ATV (20.84) and scooter (11.27).

The Bikesales Network has obtained the latest figures verbally, but next month will mark the end of the third quarter when we’ll receive the full market summary report, as well as the top 10 sellers across all the different categories.

Meanwhile, Honda continues to lead the way as the biggest selling marque in 2011, ahead of Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, KTM, Polaris and Triumph.
