Aussie market up 3.3 percent

Still in the black in 2011, with the ATV and road sectors doing most of the heavy lifting in July

The Australian motorcycle market – ATV, off-road, road and scooter – has grown 3.3 percent in the first seven months of 2011, with 57,924 units retailed compared to 56,058 in 2010.

That figure is a slight improvement on the 3.1 percent result at the end of June, with the ATV and road sectors both making gains over the last month – offsetting the off-road and scooter segments, which hit the skids a little.

The Bikesales Network isn’t privy to all the sales figures – they are only officially released on a quarterly basis – but we do know that Kawasaki’s Ninja 250 remains the biggest selling motorcycle in Australia, and that Honda still comfortably leads the overall market ahead of Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki.
