Australian stunt rider Lawrence 'Legend' Ryan is planning a massive celebration to commemorate 25 years in the caper – by completing a set of six record-breaking jumps on a Harley-Davidson XR750.
Between September 2014 and March 2015, on the grounds of his childhood home, the Monte Cristo Homestead in Junee (NSW), Lawrence will attempt to jump the Harley Davidson over:
1. A Blue Thunder gunship helicopter;
2. A 10-seater seaplane;
3. Two double-decker buses, lengthways;
4. A large house;
5. A locomotive train engine; and
6. The fountains of Monte Cristo homestead.
“I have been preparing for these stunts for the last year,” said Lawrence. “I have been in strict training to make sure I can complete these jumps successfully, and re-enter the record books one more time! No one has done anything like this on a Harley-Davidson before.”
Ryan began his career in 1989 by leaping over seven cars on a Honda CB360 in Junee, NSW. He was 18 years old.
Some of Lawrence’s more famous stunts including leaping a motorcycle over flying aeroplanes, diesel locomotives, prime movers, buildings and horse-drawn vehicles -- usually blindfolded, with one hand tied behind his back and with blistering tunnels of fire.
As well as the stunt show, Ryan will also launch Australia’s first museum dedicated to the industry. 'The Stuntman & Daredevil Hall of Fame', located adjacent to the Monte Cristo Homestead, will preserve the history of stunt men and women across the globe. Memorabilia on display will include the globe of death, the wall of death, stunt props from famed movies, the Dale Buggins highwire bike, Evil Knievel memorabilia, stunt motorcycles, stunt cars, a theatrette and more.
