Australian prodigy Jett Lawrence has notched up his second professional supercross win, topping the podium at Round 7 of the 2021 AMA Supercross Championship.
The Queenslander led the 250SX East main event from start to finish aboard his factory Honda HRC machine, with Yamaha Star Racing duo, Colt Nichols and Christian Craig, rounding out the podium. Craig crashed heavily earlier in the night, but was able to race through the pain in the main event.

Lawrence’s victory comes after a string of bad luck in three Indianapolis races, which saw him miss one main event due to injury, and crash out of podium contention in the remaining two. Prior to those mishaps, he earned a win and a podium in the opening three races in Houston.
While his Indianapolis misfortune severely dinted his title hopes, his win in Orlando does technically keep him in contention with two races left. He sits fourth in the standings, 38 points behind Nichols who is locked in a battle with Craig and Kawasaki’s Jo Shimoda.
The 250SX East class now takes a break, with the 250SX West class kicking off at the second Orlando round. Lawrence’s injury-plagued older brother Hunter is expected to line-up aboard his own Honda HRC bike.
The brothers made headlines when they signed with the factory Honda team earlier this year. They also joined Alpinestars, with Jett also signing a coveted deal with Red Bull. Both riders have previously been tipped for great success in supercross and motocross.
Meanwhile, KTM’s Cooper Webb won the 450SX class to close the gap on championship-leader, Ken Roczen (Honda HRC). Roczen finished second in the race while Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne finished third. Roczen leads the title race by 13 points with 10 races remaining.
