Chad Reed has dominated the second instalment of the AUS-X Open in Sydney, winning both SX1 finals on Saturday and Sunday respectively at Qudos Bank Arena.
With both rounds also doubling as the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship deciders, Reed defeated Justin Brayton (Honda) and Jay Marmont (Husqvarna) in the first final, and then teammate Cooper Webb and Brayton in the finale.
“It feels awesome to win the two nights here at the AUS-X Open. I felt good all weekend, and having the crowd on my side as much as they were was absolutely awesome," said Reed. “I love this event, and I’m all for coming down to Australia – so hopefully we can get back here next year."
Meanwhile, American superstar Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) put in a solid performance as he came out of retirement to post 6-4 results, while his compatriot Brayton clinched the 2016 Aussie title after he finished on the podium in five of the six finals, including a double in Sydney.
Brayton said: "This weekend was tough, I qualified first both nights. On Saturday I made a mistake and handed the lead to Chad with a few laps to go.
"On Sunday I was taken down in the first turn and had to come from way behind. It was a rewarding ride, coming from last and finishing third."
Jackson Richardson (Yamaha) won the SX2 Aussie title.
