MV Agusta is approaching the very peak of its success, if a candid interview with MV Agusta’s owner, president and CEO Giovanni Castiglioni is anything to go by. Speaking to MotoUSA’s Frank Melling at the world launch of the latest Brutale in Spain recently, the 35-year old revealed he sees the Italian brand being a 10,000-unit-a-year company. According to figures released less than a month ago, the brand sold "close to 9000 units" during the 2015, which represented a 30 per cent increase in sales over the 2014 results. "I am still defining MV Agusta," he said. "At one time, I thought that we could make a lot of motorcycles but now I think that the right number is 10,000. "I see Ducati as being like Porsche and I want MV to be more like Ferrari – a super-premium brand. For sure, there are 10,000 customers in the world for a super-premium motorcycle." The Veloce Turismo, Dragster RR and Brutale 800 were attributed to the growth during the 12 months with the firm revealing the three bikes alone accounted for 35 per cent of the global sales. "2015 was a very important year for MV Agusta," Castiglioni said. "With the launch of the Turismo Veloce we have created the first touring MV Agusta, a motorcycle that differentiates itself from its competitors by introducing a whole new dimension and experience to traveling; touring that excites your emotions. This aspect is what sets MV apart from other manufactures. "This model has been an important factor in sustaining the increase in sales growth, margins and revenues." The largest increase in sales of MV Agusta models was the UK, registering a considerable 140 per cent increase over its 2014 figures, followed by Spain (54 per cent) and Germany (26 per cent).
