Aprilia triplets

Two additions to the Caponord family, with the Strada available in February and the Rally in April

Aprilia’s flagship sport touring machine, the Caponord Touring, will be matched with two extra siblings in 2015 in the Caponord Strada and Caponord Rally. Each version of the Caponord is powered by the same 106 x 67.8mm, 1197cc, 90-degree V-twin that pumps out 125hp and 115Nm, but there are subtle electronic and chassis differences between the three, as well as $4000 in overall price.

The $20,000 ride away Caponord Strada becomes the entry-level machine of the trio and comes with a lower spec electronics package that doesn’t include the brilliant Aprilia Dynamic Damping (aDD) electronic suspension you get on the Touring and Rally. You do however still get the Ride-By-Wire (RbW) system and Aprilia Traction Control (aTC), as well as the standard ABS brake package.

The extra $3000 you fork out for a Caponord Touring will get you the aDD system, as well as colour matched panniers and the extra colour option of silver to match the red and black offered by the Strada.

As a sweetener for picking up a Caponord Touring, for a limited time Aprilia Australia is throwing in a colour matched top box and free heated handgrips -- a surprising omission in standard trim.

But the model most likely to find favour with Aussie riders will be the Caponord Rally. Now fitted with spoked wheels with a 19-inch front, the Rally will be going head to head with the likes of the BMW R 1200 GS, Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS and Yamaha Super Tenere in a battle for Aussie adventure rider’s hard-earned…

The Rally takes the Caponord Touring a step further with the spoked wheels, large aluminium hard panniers, hand guards, oversize adjustable screen, body side panels, engine protection guard and supplementary LED lighting, as well as the aDD, ABS, aTC, RbW, cruise control systems and colours with funny names – Giallo Dune (yellow) and Safari Grey.

All those extras make the Rally easily the pick of the bunch in terms of value for money, especially for $24K ride away.

The Rally will be here in April however the Strada will land in February so stay tuned to Bikesales for a full test of each machine.
