Aprilia Shiver hit with the scalpel

The 750 gets updated looks, trendy disc brakes and improved ergonomics

The EICMA 2009 international motorcycle exhibition in Milan is the place to show off your new bike, especially if it's an Italian motorcycle – like this one.

Aprilia took the wraps off its 2010 Shiver 750, which gets an updated look and though it is far from all-new, it gets a few interesting tweaks to freshen it up.

Aprilia took to the Shiver 750 with a scalpel rather than a hatchet, crafting a new look front cowl, adding custom-look brake discs and changing the colour scheme, giving a sharper, sportier image.

It also gets tweaks to the fly-by-wire throttle, presumably to improve power delivery and throttle response. Claimed power remains the same: 92hp.

As well as the cosmetic updates, Aprilia has given its 750cc V-twin nakedbike improved ergonomics, with a "5mm" theme.

The footpegs are 5mm further back, the seat is 5mm narrower and the bars have a slightly different angle compared to the 2009 model. Not sure if the last one has a 5mm connection though...

The new 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750's subtle changes should improve its appeal, which it will need with competition from bikes such as the Triumph Street Triple.

Aprilia has also added a new Dorsoduro Factory model, but our Italian translater is out to lunch, so stayed tuned for more on that model.
