Australia's Aprilia importer, John Sample Automotive, has announced that production the marque's venerable RS125 two-stroke sports bike has drawn to a close.
First introduced to Australia in 1998, the pint-sized stroker is as fun to ride as it is stunning to look at, its lines emulating that of its bigger-capacity sportsbike brethren. Honed using the hard-won lessons learned in grand prix competition -- Aprilia has more 125cc GP victories to its credit than any other manufacturer -- the RS125 has fuelled the dreams and aspriations of many a newcomer to motorcycling in this country, with precision handling that's the envy of the vast majority of entry-level machines.
Today, however, amid ever-tightening global emmissions regulations, the RS125's time has come -- the model's long production run has come to an end, and it's officially handed the baton to its cleaner, 'greener' four-stroke heir, the RS4 125 (click here for the Bikesales Network's review). John Sample Automotive has indicated there are still a few examples of the RS125 loitering on showroom floors throughout its Australian dealer network, but warns anyone wishing to grab a slice of two-wheeled history will need to move quickly.
