Aprilia had unveiled what it’s declaring is its “most extreme, high-performance and exclusive RSV4 ever” – the XTrenta.
Built by the company’s Noale racing department, the RSV4 XTrenta’s technology base nearly amounts to a ‘save-as’ in terms of materials, components, electronics and aerodynamics used in the factory’s MotoGP bike.
Cost is 50,000 euros ($A73,000), with only 1000 models to be made.
All parts of the carbon fairing on the XTrenta are made by PAN Compositi using the same processes used in MotoGP, incorporating both the newly designed front wings and the brand-new rear wings.
Moreover, the RSV4 XTrenta is the first bike in the world to mount the 'under wing' on the swingarm, just like the MotoGP factory machines of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales.
Aprilia’s been at the forefront of aero technology in MotoGP over recent seasons, adopting somewhat of a holistic approach as opposed to just ‘tacking’ on wings to get by. And as well as reducing drag and increasing downforce, Aprilia also focusses on enhancing cooling properties.

X marks mighty 225hp Aprilia RSV4
Using the standard RSV4 Factory as the technical base, Aprilia’s engineers have now managed to extract a massive 230hp (172kW) out of the 1099cc V-four, up from 217hp. This is thanks to an increase in the compression ratio, which works in concert with a dedicated titanium and carbon exhaust created by SC-Project.
A Sprint Filter air filter using MotoGP and Formula 1 specification materials completes the equipment, while a full-titanium silencer will be available as an option.
There’s a Magneti Marelli control unit, while the transmission features a PBR-branded titanium sprocket (another XTrenta exclusive).
Modified Ohlins suspension and Brembo GP4-MS billet monobloc calipers continue the premium theme, while the forged magnesium Marchesini M7R GENESI wheels fit Pirelli Diablo WorldSBK-derived slicks.
The RSV4 XTrenta’s livery, used by Lorenzo Savadori in the recent Austrian GP, is a contemporary interpretation of the one Aprilia sported in the 1992 125cc world title, won by Italian Alessandro Gramigni.
The RSV4 XTrenta will sell for €50,000 excluding VAT (European Value Added Tax), available exclusively online from September 6 at factoryworks.aprilia.com.
