It was a case of ‘Gone in 60 minutes’ for Royal Enfield recently, when the full allocation of the brand’s limited-edition 120th Anniversary Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 sold out in a flurry of intense buying activity.
Produced to commemorate the historic brand’s 120th anniversary this year, just 480 examples of the special editions have been produced in total, with only 60 of each model made available to Australia and New Zealand.
The models adopt a striking chrome-black finish with numerous blacked-out components including the engine and silencers, along with handcrafted brass tank badges, anniversary side cover decals, and hand-painted pinstriping. The tank top badge also features each bike’s unique serial number.

In addition to the exclusive livery, these tribute models come equipped an array of factory accessories, such as flyscreens, engine guards, heel guards, and touring and bar-end mirrors, among others, also finished in black.
Royal Enfield says the chrome-black finish was developed in-house at its original Chennai manufacturing plant in India, the unique look achieved using a sustainable and eco-friendly ‘trivalent’ chroming process.
The die-cast brass tank badges, meanwhile, have been produce in collaboration with India’s Sirpi Senthil family, multi-generational artisans responsible for making painstakingly produced brass effigies for some of the most revered temples in India.
Priced at $13,990 ride away for the Interceptor 650 and $14,490 ride away for the Continental GT, representing premiums of $3000 and $3200 over the standard models respectively, the exclusive anniversary models drew immense interest from Aussie buyers from the moment they were announced late yesterday (April 7).
“All our available units of each model were sold within an hour of becoming available,” said Mal Jarrett, Marketing Manager for Urban Moto Imports, the importer and distributor for Royal Enfield in Australia.
“The response was incredible.”
