Anderson makes brilliant Aussie motocross cameo

Waltzes into town and stuns the regulars with a superb clean sweep

British motocross champion Brad Anderson (Honda) has dominated the Pro Open class at the fifth round of the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals in Newcastle (NSW).

In Australia for a quick fire two-week visit (which will conclude at Manjimup (WA) next weekend) Anderson made light work of the championship regulars, scything through qualifying before going onto win all three motos in emphatic fashion.

"I've been riding over in the UK and I've done a few GPs, and we just decided to come out here and try it all out and it's been pretty good," Anderson said.

"I like it nice and rough like how it is here, the track was pretty good and the people are good, and hopefully I can be back again.

"I've got Manjimup next week and then I've got to get back for the British championship, but hopefully I can get back here before the end of the season."

Anderson, who is currently running 6hird in t6he British title after three of seven rounds, left New3castle with a perfect 75pt haul, ahead of fellow Brit Billy Mackenzie (Kawasaki, 58), Victorian Cheyne Boyd (Yamaha, 58), Dean Ferris (56) and defending champion Jay Marmont (Yamaha, 51).

Marmont increased his championship lead in Newcastle, as his closest challenger Tye Simmonds (KTM) was off the boil and could only muster seventh overall.

Marmont now has 241pts, ahead of a tightening battle for second between Simonds (228), Ferris (223), Mackenzie (215) and Boyd (214).

Meanwhile, KTM duo PJ Larsen and Josh Cachia won the Lites and Under 19s battles in round five, strengthening their championship leads in the process.
