Alta's new street tracker

The Silicon Valley-based start-up has now released a third electric bike in six months

Here's the latest from electric motorcycle company Alta Motors – a street tracker.

The new machine looks set to join the motocross and supermoto versions in the company's 'Redshift' line-up, which only started production in August 2016.

The company hasn't released specs on the Redshift ST as yet, but presumably it won't stray too far – if any – from the current motocross and supermoto machines which have a two-hour 80km range from the 5.8 kWh battery pack, and weigh between 114-122kg.

The ST will be shown at a motor show in Portland this week, where full details should be revealed.

Alta Motors was formerly known as BRD Motorcycles, and raised over $US17 million in funding – including from Tesla co-founders Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard in a $4.5 million – in 2016.

Alta still remains very much in the shadows of the Santa Cruz-based Zero Motorcycles, whose 2017 line-up you can see here – which includes a new five-year on its Z-Force power packs.
