BMW rider Glenn Allerton, who leads this year’s Australian Superbike Championship on his S 1000 RR, is heading overseas for some more combat, starting with this weekend’s round of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) at Brands Hatch.
Allerton will compete in the Evolution (“Evo”) class for his BSB debut, which allows bikes with full Superbike rolling chassis but engines which are basically ‘stock’ and forbid rider aids like traction control, launch control and anti-wheelie software.
Allerton will then complete the balance of the BSB title, which concludes on October 9, and during his overseas tour of duty will also head over the Atlantic to campaign in the final round of the AMA Superbike Championship in New Jersey from September 2-4.
“It has always been an ambition to race in the USA and I am grateful to (team owner) Jennifer Cartwright for this amazing opportunity,” said Glenn.
Allerton will come up against countryman Glen Richards (Honda) in the Evo class at Brands Hatch, while Sydney’s Josh Brookes will be fighting for outright honours on his full blown Suzuki Superbike.
