All-terrain concept goes to the next level

It's called the DTV Shredder, and it's described as a crossover between power and extreme sports

Take a look at this piece of kit, which is set to create its own niche within the power sports segment. It’s the boldly named DTV Shredder.

The Shredd-meister is the creation of a company called BPF Werks, based on an all-terrain platform. Nothing out of left field there, but what sets this thing apart is that it’s a stand-up affair, similar to a jet ski, and it tracks on a mini tank rather than wheels.

The current version has a humble 18hp engine (and weighs nearly 73kg all up) but the company is now working on a 48hp rotary engine which should pique the interest of many.

According to 21-year-old Canadian Ben Gulak, who is the principal at BPG Werks, the idea behind the Shredder was for something that could fit into the boot of a car, had all the same capabilities as an ATV or dirt bike, and also was a crossover between power and extreme sports.

And you also don’t have to cajole Ben into having a bit of fun – after all he’s just out of his teens.

“A big thing we’re trying to capture is the freedom you feel when you’re snowboarding or surfing or skateboarding, and the ability to move your body to control your direction,” Gulak told Gizmag. “It’s a really neat feeling that you only get by being in a standing position.”

There could be both military (it can be adapted for reconnaissance use) and civilian versions on the way, with the latter priced around $4000.
