KTM has announced that an all-new 390 Duke is on its way to Australian shores, with an expected arrival date of early 2024.
Featuring a new two-piece frame design, a bigger single-cylinder engine, and a fresh suite of electronic functions, the LAMS-approved naked bike is expected to be lighter and more powerful than the current-generation 390 Duke.
The frame is now composed of a steel-trellis main frame and a die-cast aluminium subframe, and is designed to improve agility and feedback while giving riders greater control and stability. Also new is the triple clamp, a curved lightweight swingarm, a larger airbox design, and a lower seat height.
At the heart of the new 390 Duke is a new learner-friendly 399cc single-cylinder engine which KTM dubs the LC4c. The powerplant is bigger in capacity (up from 373cc), but KTM claims it is lighter and more powerful, and it is also now Euro 5+ compliant.
According to the spec sheet, the new motor produces 39Nm of torque and 44hp (33kW). This represents a slight increase over the previous generation (37Nm and 42hp/32kW). Despite the relatively small output gains, the engine has been completely redesigned with newly optimised cylinder heads and a new gearbox.
For suspension, KTM has fitted the 2024 390 Duke with a 43mm WP APEX open-cartridge fork with rebound and compression adjustment, as well as a split-piston rear shock absorber with adjustable rebound and preload.
And in the electronics department, KTM has added an all-new 5-inch TFT display with multiple rider modes, smartphone connectivity, cornering traction control and ABS, and a new standard Supermoto ABS mode. There is also a dedicated Track display included as standard which unlocks more data, launch control and a lap timer. A bidirectional quickshifter is available as an option.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but the new KTM 390 Duke is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2024. KTM has also rolled out the new platform for its 125 Duke and 250 Duke models, although neither of those will be distributed in Australia.
