Alex Marquez to join Repsol Honda!
The reigning Moto2 world champion will now join his all-conquering brother in Honda’s factory MotoGP teamHonda Racing Corporation has signed Moto2 world champion Alex Marquez to replace the retired Jorge Lorenzo in the Repsol Honda MotoGP team, where he will join forces with his older brother, Marc.
Alex will join Repsol Honda on a one-year contract, and will take the reins of the RC213V for the first time in Valencia today as the traditional post-season two-day test begins at the Spanish circuit.
Alex, who won this year’s Moto2 title to add to his Moto3 success in 2014, was set to remain in Moto2 title before Lorenzo’s shock retirement announcement opened up a plum vacancy in the most successful MotoGP team of the modern era.
Cal Crutchlow and Johann Zarco were also touted as possible replacements for Lorenzo before Honda opted for 23-year-old Alex.
Marc Marquez also stepped straight into the Repsol Honda MotoGP team after he won the Moto2 title in 2012.
