The long-awaited Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 has finally been revealed in full, with the Milwaukee firm releasing specs and pricing for the new adventure tourer.
Two variants of the new model have been announced, but it appears Australia will only get the high-spec ‘Special’ model, which offers more off-road capability and extra electronic functions.

With a host of premium and high-tech features, the new Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special marks the Motor Company’s entry into the competitive adventure category, and will arrive in Australia later this year with a premium starting price tag of $31,995 ride away.
Powered by H-D’s new Revolution Max 1250cc engine, a liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin, the Pan America 1250 Special will compete with the likes of the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.
The new engine produces 127Nm of torque and 150hp at 8750rpm. The powertrain is expected to feature in future Harley models. It was due to power the Bronx streetfighter, but that model has reportedly been cancelled.
Designed for long-distance all-terrain riding, the Pan America 1250 Special has an extensive electronics package which includes a six-axis IMU, customisable ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity, moving map navigation, adaptive LED lighting, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, heated grips, and a 6.8-inch touch screen display.
Safety features on the new machine include linked braking, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, engine drag torque slip control and hill hold control. The five pre-programmed ride modes include Road, Sport, Rain, Off-Road, and Off-Road plus. Everything is controlled by left- and right-hand switchblocks.
Unique to the ‘Special’ model is Showa semi-active suspension which electronically maintains desired settings, and features five pre-programmed profiles which are linked with the ride modes. The bike also has vehicle loading control which automatically adjusts rear preload. Suspension travel is 190mm both front and rear.
In a first for motorcycling, there is also the option to add a new adaptive ride height function, which automatically lowers the seat height when the bike is stopped.
To further the Pan America 1250 Special’s off-road credentials, Harley has added an aluminium skid plate, brush guards, a steering damper and an adjustable rear brake pedal. As a factory-installed option, customers can also add stainless steel spoked wheels, offering more durability in off-road conditions.
The new Pan America 1250 Special weighs in at 258kg wet, which places it in the ballpark of the R 1250 GS Adventure. Other key specs include the 21l fuel tank, 210mm ground clearance and 19- and 17-inch front and rear wheels. The bike will come with H-D/Michelin Scorcher Adventure tyres.
The Pan America 1250 Special comes with a number of paint options including Vivid Black, Gauntlet Grey Metallic, Deadwood Green, and two-tone Baja Orange and Stone Washed White Pearl. All come with the H-D Split graphic.
While pricing starts at $31,995 for the Vivid Black model, it will increase to $32,290 for a colour version, and $32,640 for the two-tone version. And opting for the laced-wheels and adaptive ride height will raise the total by $1485.
There will also be a full range of performance, comfort and aesthetic parts and accessories available for the Pan America, as well a range of dedicated adventure riding gear.
Harley has indicated that the Pan America 1250 Special will be in dealerships in the second half of 2021. Head to harley-davidson.com.au for more info.
