Leigh Adams has begun his quest for a 10th Australian open speedway title in glittering fashion, putting on a clinic in Newcastle (NSW) on January 3.
The 37-year-old swept through the program, winning all his six races, including the final from Rory Schlein, Chris Holder and Jason Doyle.
Holder, the defending Aussie champion and 2008 world junior runner-up, only scored a berth in the final after winning his semi-final, and he'll have to lift a gear if he is to challenge Adams for the championship at the final two rounds in Mildura (Vic) on January 7 and Gillman (SA) on January 10.
