The Victorian state government has passed on a $50,000 grant to assist organisers of the upcoming round of the Trial World Championship at Mt Tarrengower near Maldon.
The cash injection for the Trials Club of Vitoria was announced under the Victorian Government's Significant Sporting Events Program.
“Sport plays a vital role in regional Victorian communities, especially in Maldon. That's why the Coalition Government continues to invest to attract the best events to regional areas," said Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty. “Events such as the Trial World Championship bring thousands of visitors to Victoria, provide a stimulus for regional economies and boost sports participation at a local level."
The event will be held on the weekend of May 26-27, and will feature the world’s top 45 ranked trial riders including brilliant Spanish duo Toni Bou and Adam Raga, as well as Australia’s Scott Owen. “The Championships provide the perfect opportunity to showcase the Maldon district's fantastic motorbike trails, quality sports facilities, talent and local attractions to even more people. I encourage Victorians to come along and join in the excitement,” Mr Delahunty concluded.
