38th Historic Winton
The all-historic meeting is back at the Winton Motor Raceway, near Benalla, and will be held on May 24-25Australia’s largest and most popular all-historic race meeting, Historic Winton, will be held on May 24-25 at Winton Motor Raceway, with the weekend of non-stop racing featuring over 400 historic racing cars and motorcycles from the 1920s to the 1980s. Celebrations in 2014 include:
- 110 years of Hispano Suiza, Rolls Royce, Rover, Crossley
- 100 years of Dodge, Willys-Knight, Aston Martin, Maserati
- 90 years of Bentley Le Mans victories, Bugatti Type 35, Frazer Nash
- 80 years of Simca, Citroen Traction Avant, Chrysler Airflow, Lagonda Rapier, Austin 7 Ruby
- 60 years of Borgward Isabella, Ford Thunderbird, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint
- 50 years of Ford Mustang, Sunbeam Tiger
Historic Winton highlights include:
- Shannons Classic Car Park featuring car and bike club displays
- Spectator access to the competition paddock with fabulous old racing machines on open display
- Bubble Car, Indian Motorcycle and Penrite AGP Aussie Specials
- Classic Car Show - veteran and vintage, sports and classics, hot rods and customs, street machines, motorcycles
- Historic commercial vehicles
- Historic motorcycles featuring sidecar.
Entry for adults is $25 on Saturday, $35 on Sunday, or a weekend pass for $50. Children 16 and under get in for free.
On Friday, May 23, the Benalla & District Classic Car & Motorbike Tour will be held, assembling from 9am at the Benalla Art Gallery. Red plate vehicles welcome.
