Two regional primary schools and a junior football club will be the beneficiaries of more than $17,000 raised as part of this year’s Variety Adventure Ride, which is kicking off later this month.
With 30 registered participants already raising at least $2500 each, the six-day 1500km event is expected to generate more than $90,000 for kids in need in regional and remote areas.

Kicking off on Sunday, March 17, in Jindabyne (NSW), the route takes in the Victorian towns of Bright, Mansfield, Sale, Lakes Entrance and Merimbula, before returning to Jindabyne on Friday, March 22, marking the end of the 2024 Variety Adventure Ride.
The organisations earmarked for funding are the Delegate Public School, which is set to receive $6670 for playground seating; Porepunkah Primary School, which will use the donated $4374 for a woodworking program aimed at keeping kids with a disability, anxiety or low levels of literacy engaged; with the remaining $6054 going to the Mansfield Junior Football Club to purchase sporting equipment.
According to the charity, the event – which has been sponsored by Pickles auction house since 2020 – has the potential to inject a further $55,000 into the regional communities the ride passes through, as the participants and support crew purchase accommodation, meals, fuel and supplies.

“Our motoring events play a vital role in raising funds to help kids in need, particularly those in remote and regional communities where families and schools often face challenges in accessing the support and resources required for each child to reach their full potential,” Variety NSW/ACT CEO Tony Warner said.
“Variety NSW/ACT supports children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.”
