The past year has been huge for the motorcycle industry, with many exciting new machines reaching our shores. Now the time has come to once again determine Australia’s premier motorcycle consumer award, the 2023 bikesales Bike of the Year, proudly presented by Youi Insurance.

Throughout the year, our expert judges here at bikesales have tested over 60 new and updated motorcycles. And now, drawing upon our team’s vast knowledge and expertise, that field of contenders has been whittled down to just eight finalists.

And in order to determine the overall winner, the bikesales team is heading back to the spiritual home of Bike of the Year – the Victorian High Country.

The rules

For a motorcycle to be eligible for the 2023 bikesales Bike of the Year award, it must be new or heavily updated, and it must have gone on sale in Australia prior to October 2023. It must also have been previously tested by the bikesales team.

The eight finalists have been chosen based on a number of criteria that includes, but is not limited to, engine and drivetrain performance, brakes and handling performance, build quality, innovation, safety, value for money, and the extent to which the bike is fit for purpose.

The winner of the bikesales Bike of the Year award will be the best overall machine that we feel represents the pinnacle of motorcycle production for 2023.

What's next?

The bikesales team will spend a week in Bright, Victoria, testing each finalist on the stunning alpine roads for which the surrounding region is renowned. Our expert team of judges will assess each bike based on the eligibility criteria to determine an overall Winner and two Highly Commended runners-up.

And, like last year, you’ll get to tell us which bike you think deserves the title, with the bikesales Bike of the Year People’s Choice Award. In the coming weeks, the People’s Choice survey will go live on bikesales.com.au for you to cast your vote. The People’s Choice Winner will be announced in late November.

All of this excitement will lead into December, when we announce the winner of the 2023 bikesales Bike of the Year, proudly presented by Youi Insurance. Stay tuned!
