Suzuki's V-Strom 650XT is rolling out across dealerships now and early buyers will pick up a bonus aluminium top case worth $1000.
The V-Strom's rideaway price of $13,490 covers the regular and learner-approved versions.
A standard V-Strom now cranks out 70hp (52kW) and 62Nm, while power on the LAMS bike is restricted to 47hp (35kW).
The bonus 38-litre top case is made from 1.5mm aluminium with a black powder-coat to protect against oxidation and abrasion. Glass-fibre reinforced plastic covers at each corner give extra protection and the lid has four tie-down points integrated into the design.
Traction control can be switched to either of two modes, or turned off completely. The first mode allows modest rear wheel spin for more advanced, exhilarating riding, while mode two as soon as the rear-wheel starts to lose grip, giving the rider greater confidence on slippery surfaces or challenging conditions.
Suzuki boasts its lightweight aluminium twin-spar frame has more rigidity and balance than the steel frames used by its rivals.
Standard gear on the adventure machine includes twin 310mm front brake discs with twin-piston callipers, wire-spoked rims with Bridgestone Vattlax Adventure rubber, a 12-volt outlet, handguards and an engine guard.
