Hot in the wheel tracks of the recently released 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS, the new and updated 2020 Triumph Street Triple S – a 660cc LAMS (learner approved motorcycle scheme) model – is now on sale throughout Triumph's national dealer network.
While the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS is the flagship for Triumph's naked middleweight range, priced from $19,800 ride away, the 2020 Triumph Street Triple S is an entry-level model with a lower specification that's priced from $14,900 ride away.
Like for the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS, pricing has remained unchanged for the LAMS-spec bike despite its improvements.
A range restructure sees the 2020 Triumph Street Triple S offered only in a LAMS-compliant format – previously LAMS and non-LAMS models of the Street Triple S were available – while we're still waiting for confirmation of a new 2020 Triumph Street Triple R, which will slot in as a mid-spec model between the range-topping Street Triple RS and the Street Triple S.
The new 2020 Triumph Street Triple S scores new bodywork, new twin LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, new mirrors and a new colour scheme – Crystal White with red and black highlights.
Power and torque from the LAMS-compliant 660cc in-line triple engine have increased to 54hp (39.7kW) and 61Nm (from 47hp/35kW and 60Nm), while the six-speed gearbox is unchanged and the model continues to weigh in at a svelte 168kg (dry).

The Showa suspension carries over and chassis changes have been kept to a minimum. The seat height is unchanged at 810mm while the bike is now a little wider, measuring 765mm across its handlebars (previously 740mm).
The bike's steering head angle has increased slightly for better stability, now 24.3 degrees (up from 24.1 degrees), while fuel capacity remains unchanged at 17.4 litres.
Two ride modes are available, Road or Rain, while the bike's Nissin/Brembo brake package is backed by ABS.
The top-spec Street Triple RS, on the other hand, receives higher-grade and fully adjustable suspension front and rear, higher-spec brakes, a bi-directional quickshifter, five ride modes and TFT instrumentation, among others, in addition to the full-power and Moto2-inspired 765cc inline triple powerplant. It produces 121hp (90.5kW) and 79Nm in a package weighing just 166kg (dry).
The 2020 Triumph Street Triple S is a very light, compact, sporty but manageable package that will continue to appeal to entry-level riders after a stylish, easy-to-ride motorcycle. The model hits our market with a range of over 60 genuine factory accessories.
Look out for a full road test on the 2020 Triumph Street Triple S on Bikesales soon.
