Triumph Motorcycles Australia is hosting the national media launch of its heavily revised Street Triple RS next week (December 4-6), with local motorcycle media set to sample the brand's new flagship middleweight naked in Queensland on both the road and track.
First unveiled in early October and 10 years on from the model's initial debut, Triumph says the new Street Triple RS now offers even more performance, along with more technology and a more aggressive look.
Triumph engineers have massaged an extra 2Nm of peak torque from the Moto2-inspired 765cc in-line triple, but say the bike now offers nine per cent more mid-range torque and power, in a package that continues to tip the scales at an impressively svelte 166kg dry.
Peak torque of 79Nm now chimes in at 9350rpm, versus 11,000rpm for its predecessor, while peak power figure of 121hp (at 11,750rpm) remains unchanged.
New twin headlights with LED daytime running lights complement revised bodywork and decals for a sharper, more distinctive look, while a freer-flowing exhaust delivers a "crisper soundtrack" and is finished with a carbon-fibre end cap.

The tech boost comes in the form of a new TFT display with fresh graphics and MyTriumph app connectivity, along with a new slipper clutch with bi-directional quickshifter, and improved riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, Track and Rider).
As the apex model in the Street Triple family, the Street Triple RS comes with a list of high-spec inclusions spanning Brembo M50 brakes, fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres.
The model slots in above Triumph's new Street Triple S, a LAMS-compliant model with 660cc engine and 54hp, and a generally more modest level of specification.
Pricing for both the new Triumph Street Triple RS and Triumph Street Triple S will be announced at the upcoming media event, potentially alongside an announcement regarding an update of Triumph's current mid-range Street Triple, the Street Triple R.
Bikesales will be there in the thick of it in Queensland on a launch we've been eagerly anticipating since details of the new Street Triple RS first came to light, so check back soon for a full road test and video.
