2020 Hattah Desert Race cancelled

The Hattah Desert Race is the latest motorcycling event to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

The 2020 Hattah Desert Race has been cancelled, as the country continues to fight through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite lower transmission rates and easing restrictions, the Hattah Desert Race committee made the tough decision to cancel the event, which was due to be held near Mildura from July 3-5, 2020.

With closed borders and bans on mass gatherings still in place across the country, the possibility of the race going ahead was becoming increasingly unlikely.

Organisers explored all possible options, including moving the event to August, but uncertainty surrounding the pandemic made it impossible to commit to any plans.

As a result of the cancellation, all top-40 and place-getter pre-entries will be carried over to the 2021 Hattah Desert Race.

In a statement, the committee thanked competitors for their patience and volunteers for their hard work in preparation for the event.

A date for the 2021 Hattah Desert Race is yet to be announced.
