The new 2020 BMW S 1000 XR has arrived in Australia with a price tag of $27,975 ride away. It is the first overhaul of the BMW S 1000 XR since its introduction in 2015.
With a 999cc liquid-cooled, inline 4-cylinder engine derived from the recently updated S 1000 RR, the BMW S 1000 XR is designed to strike the perfect balance between adventure comfort and sports bike performance. The engine puts out 165hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm at 9,250rpm.
The BMW S 1000 XR also comes with a comprehensive electronics package which is managed through a detailed 6.5-inch colour TFT screen and BMW’s signature handlebar-mounted multi-controller wheel.

Standard features on the BMW S 1000 XR include ABS Pro, traction control, Dynamic Brake Control, engine drag torque control and Dynamic ESA (electronically adjustable suspension). There are also four ride modes as standard.
Weighing at 226kg, the S 1000 XR has a seat height of 840mm and a 20l fuel tank. It comes in two colours – Ice Grey and Racing Red/Aluminium White.
As is common for BMW, there is a long list of optional extras available that can be added to the bike when you purchase it. BMW also has ‘package’ versions of the S 1000 XR which come with select optional extras. These include the S 1000 XR Tour and the S 1000 XR Carbon Sport.
