Suzuki is expanding its popular V-Strom adventure line-up with the introduction of the V-Strom 250 ABS. It will go on sale in late September 2018 for $7190 rideaway.
The learner-approved machine will be powered by the same 248cc parallale-twin engine as found in the firm’s GSX250R, which produces a claimed 25hp (18.8kW) at 8000rpm.
The styling is similar to the larger capacity 600 and 1000cc V-Stroms, with design cues such as the ‘beak’ a major part of the equation.
There’s a compact windscreen which sits above the round headlight, while the V-Strom 250 has 10-spoke 17-inch cast wheels shod with IRC tyres.
Stopping power is handled by a 290mm petal-type disc and twin-piston caliper up front and a 240mm petal-type disc with a single-piston caliper on the rear. ABS is by Bosch.
The large aluminium rear carrier is fitted with hooks for attaching straps and can also be used for attaching the optional accessory top case.
The seat height is 800mm, while wet weight is 188kg. Colours are Champion Yellow or Metallic Triton Blue.
Suzuki’s opposition in the small-capacity adventure scene includes the BMW G 310 GS, the Kawasaki Versys 300 and Honda’s – albeit more off-road focussed – CRF250 Rally.
