Hot on the heels of Indian Motorcycle launching its 2019 Scout and Scout Bobber models, the iconic American company has now released details on its 2019 Chief Dark House cruiser, 2019 Springfield Dark Horse bagger and 2019 Roadmaster tourer.
New features on all three machines include selectable rider modes (Tour, Standard or Sport) and rear cylinder deactivation, while the 100-watt audio system on the Springfield Dark Horse and Roadmaster has been optimised to improve sound output and clarity, and there’s now a customisable equaliser which automatically adjusts frequency to take into account road, wind and engine noise.

The lowers on the Roadmaster have also been redesigned for improved air flow (and can also be retrofitted), while the Dark Horse models also get darker with premium gloss black finishes. There are also expanded color options on the Springfield Dark Horse.
All the Thunder Stroke 111 models are now equipped with rear cylinder deactivation. When the engine reaches operating temperature and the ambient temperature exceeds 15 degrees Celsius, the rear cylinder will automatically deactivate when the bike is at a standstill, resulting in less engine heat for improved comfort in slow-moving or stopped traffic. The rear cylinder instantly reactivates when throttle is applied.
Also for 2019, the Chief Dark Horse and Springfield Dark Horse now boast premium gloss black finishes on the engine including the primary, valve, and cam covers, push-rod tubes, and saddlebag hinges. The exhaust is now black.
The Springfield Dark Horse will be offered in two colors: Thunder Black Smoke and a new White Smoke option. The machine now features the Indian headdress on the front fender and a 19-inch contrast-cut wheel. The front highway bars and windshield have also been removed “to punctuate its sleek, streamlined stance”.
“These enhancements for 2019 showcase our commitment to listening to riders and continuously improving their experience with our products,” said Steve Menneto, President, Indian Motorcycle. “We are laser-focused on delivering a best-in-class riding experience, and these new technologies represent a focus on quality that will continue long into the future of Indian Motorcycle.”
The 2019 Indian Motorcycle models will be available in Australia and New Zealand in late 2018.
