The brief for the 2019 version of Honda’s CBR500R was to improve the looks, riding position and mid-range acceleration of the LAMS-approved sports tourer.
The seat design has been slimmed down to improve movement on the machine, though the height is still a low 785mm.
The fairing panels have been redesigned to improve aesthetics and aerodynamics, with Honda saying the “straight, wedge-like feature lines and extended lower fairings emphasise a real sense of speed”.

Attention on the mechanicals focused on a boost in power and torque from 3000-7000rpm, It is matched to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch to smooth out the shifts, while a gear position sign in the LCD instrument cluster also incorporates a “shift up” warning.
The indicators have also joined the rest of the lighting in adopting LED globes.
Honda’s CBR500R is on sale in red, white and grey, priced from $7999.
