Harley-Davidson has revived the Electra Glide moniker Down Under in the form of the Electra Glide Standard – a machine that strips away the full bells and whistles to provide a “raw, fundamental experience”.
The Electra Glide Standard is basically a stripped-down, more simplistic, infotainment-less version of the Electra Glide Ultra Classic – which isn’t available in Australia – and is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine.

Other styling features include:
• A Batwing fairing;
• Chrome trim and accents;
• Saddlebags;
• Cast aluminum wheels;
• Polished rocker, cam and derby covers; and
• Blacked-out components.
“To express the stripped-back essence of the Electra Glide Standard, we focused on finishes that were simple, timeless, and fundamental to the Harley-Davidson’s touring line,” said Harley-Davidson’s Vice President of Styling and Design, Brad Richards.
“Chrome was added to key components and complimented by polished and blacked out parts, for example.
“The rocker, cam, and derby covers are finished with chrome to emphasise the V-twin shape of the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. In addition, they add a dose of nostalgia that draws a through-line all the way back to the first Electra Glide.”
Standard features include cruise control, hand-adjustable shock absorbers, 49mm forks, and linked Brembo brakes with optional ABS – just sneaking in before the mandatory ABS rule on all new bikes sold in Australia comes into force in November 2019.
The Electra Glide Standard model is offered in Vivid Black with a rideaway price of $34,495 in Australia and $37,995 in New Zealand. In Australia, that puts the Electra Glide Standard at the same price as the Road King.
