As well as officially unveiling an all-new Streetfighter V4 Ducati has replaced is Panigale 959 with an updated version called the Panigale V2, bringing the road-oriented sportsbike’s moniker in line with the firm’s track-focussed V4 offerings.
To make it Euro 5 compliant, the 955cc Superquadro V-twin engine benefits from four new fuel injectors (two per cylinder), a revised intake system as well as a new exhaust, and the result is a slight increase in power out to 155hp and 104Nm of torque.
It uses a Showa fork and Sachs shock suspension package and boasts a swag of electronic goodness including cornering ABS and the firm’s EVO 2 traction control setup.
Styling updates also bring it closer in line with the family look: it employs the monocoque chassis of the original Panigale, replaces its conventional swingarm with a single-sided affair, and there’s far more aggressive-looking bodywork.
Speaking of new bodywork, changes to the range for 2020 also sees the top-spec Panigale V4 R’s bodywork transferred to the both the base and S versions as standard fitment. As well as the addition of winglets, it means a broader nose fairing, a taller screen and gill-style air vents.
Tweaks to the suspension – fork mounts, a shorter rear shock and new rear linkage – raises the centre of gravity to sharpen up the handling, while the overall suspension performance has been softened to align the machine to its road-going design brief.
