Four years after Ducati launched the Scrambler family of motorcycles, the latest version of the breed has been unveiled – the updated Icon.
According to Ducati, it retains the “pure essence of motorcycling: two wheels, a wide handlebar, a simple engine and endless fun”.
The 803cc Icon adds Bosch Cornering ABS into the fold, and it has beefier aluminum side panels as well as a black engine, brushed cylinder head fins and machine-finished rims.
The headlight now comes with a daytime running light, and the machine has self-cancelling indicators. Updated switchgear also makes it easier for the rider to scroll the LCD instrument menu, according to Ducati.
The four-valve L-twin engine produces 73hp (54kW) at 8250rpm, and 67NM at 5750rpm. Weight is a claimed 189kg (wet), and it tracks on Kayaba suspension and Pirelli rubber.
Seat height is 798mm, with a 778mm version available as an accessory. Fuel capacity is 13.5 litres.
The Scrambler Icon is available in Atomic Tangerine with black frame and a black seat with grey trim or in classic ’62 Yellow with black frame and black seat with grey trim.
Ducati Australia is yet to announce price or availability, but it will go on sale in Europe in November 2018.
Ducati has sold over 55,000 Scramblers since the family was launched in late 2014.
