2019 S 1000 RR momentum building

We’re not only riding it this week, but a pre-production version of the BMW will be in Australia by April

In sportsbike land, the biggest reveals during the 2018 show season were the Ducati Panigale V4 R and the completely revamped BMW S 1000 RR.

We’ve already seen the race versions of both in action at the opening round of the 2019 Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island – the Ducati got the bragging rights in that one – but now things are getting serious on the production front.

So much so that Aussie Isle of Man hero Cameron Donald is now in Portugal for the world launch of the S 1000 RR, which is being held at the newly resurfaced Estoril circuit near Lisbon.

Meanwhile, a pre-production version of the 2019 BMW S 1000 RR will be on display at Coastline BMW in Currimundi (Qld) on Saturday, April 6.

The S 1000 RR isn’t due to go on sale in Australia until late May or June 2019, and the Sunshine Coast dealership is expecting Queensland riders won’t be shy to have a look.

The S 1000 RR reveal will be part of an expo at the dealership that will cover two and four-wheeled BMWs.

The S 1000 RR now packs a claimed 204hp (152kW) and 113Nm, with 100Nm on tap from 5500-14,500rpm.
