Yamaha Australia has released an updated version of the MT-07 LA (as in LAMS), as well as the souped-up version of the MT-09 – the MT-09 SP.
And next week, the updated MT-07 HO (as in full-power) will also hit local showrooms.
New bodywork on the MT-07s brings the middleweight machines more in line with their larger MT-09 and MT-10 siblings, with a redesigned headlight, rearlight, seat, side panels and intake.
The suspension is improved with a revised front fork for more feedback and the rear shock gains a rebound damping adjuster for more versatility. There is 130mm travel at both ends.
Despite the upgrades, the MT-07s still retains their light weight accessibility with Yamaha claiming a wet weight of 182kg.
The MT-07’s parallel twin engine remains unchanged, the HO model 698cc and the LA version 655cc.
Accessories include Akrapovic exhaust systems, Ohlins suspension, soft and hard luggage and billet components. Colours are Tech Black (HO/LA), Night Fluo (LA) and Yamaha Blue (LA).
The LA retails for $9999, and the HO $10,699, both excluding on-road coasts.

2018 MT-09 SP
Yamaha has thrown a host of high-spec componentry at an already capable motorcycle to create the second higher-spec MT model after the range-topping MT-10 SP.
As well as the Silver Blu Carbon colour scheme which extends to the special blue stitching within the seat, the 193kg (wet) SP gets an Öhlins rear shock matched to fully adjustable Kayaba front forks, as well as white-on-black LCD instruments and blue wheels.
There are black handlebars, black control levers and a black handlebar crown.
The 847cc in-line triple is good for 115hp, and the bike comes with a one-way quickshifter, assist and slipper clutch, switchable traction control, and multiple riding modes.
Price is $13,499 plus on-road costs.
