Honda has also fine-tuned the suspension settings on the 2018 model CRF450R, with the modest updates not a surprise considering the 2017 model (review here) was the first clean sheet redesign of the bike in eight years with new chassis geometry, a low centre of gravity, race-ready 49mm Showa steel spring front forks, a 11 per cent hike in top-end power and more torque throughout the rev range.

Meanwhile, the CRF450RX will continue in the Honda lineup, with its enduro-spec suspension, PGM-FI and EMSB (Engine Mode Select Button) mapping, 8.5 litre fuel tank, 18-inch rear wheel, electric starter and sidestand. For 2018, the RX gets the same lithium-ion battery for the electric starter, saving 650 grams of weight.
