The 2018 Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F are both now on sale in Australia, and the naked and semi-faired machines boast a swag of performance and cosmetic updates.
Internally, crankcase ventilation holes have been added to both comply with Euro 4 emission requirements and reduce pumping losses. The change which has resulted in a 3hp hike in peak power, now at 147hp (110kW), and a 2Nm increase in maximum torque, which now sits at 108Nm.
A back-torque-limiting clutch has been added and a new, presumably stiffer, front brake hose construction is said to provide better feel and initial bite for the front brake.
As well as new colour options for the new model year, both the GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F get blacked-out footpegs, handlebar levers and foot controls, while the semi-faired F variant gains a smoke tint windshield.
The naked model is priced at $15,190 (plus on-road costs) or $16,690 ride away, while the semi-faired F-model retails for $15,990 (plus on-road costs) or $17,490 ride away.
